Standing together for hospice care

Today, Hospice UK is launching a national Fair Funding campaign, with hospices across the country coming together to call on the government to provide more sustainable funding. Community Hospice is proud to stand alongside them, because this is about more than organisations. It’s about people.

Every day, we support patients and families across Greenwich and Bexley, helping people live well, die with dignity, and feel supported through some of life’s most difficult moments. That’s what matters most. And that’s what we’re here to protect.

Thanks to the dedication of our teams, the support of our community, and the strength of our local partnerships, we are not reducing services and remain here for everyone who needs us. However, like many hospices, we are facing increasing financial pressures. We’re entering a challenging year and are carefully planning ahead to ensure we can continue to provide the care our community relies on. Sustainable funding will be essential to help us do this, both now and in the future.

That’s why we’re supporting Hospice UK’s Fair Funding campaign. Across the country, many hospices are already having to make difficult decisions. By adding our voice, we’re standing alongside the sector to help secure the future of hospice care.

We’re also proud of the strong partnerships we have locally, and the way organisations across our system work together to support people at the end of life. We hope this campaign helps strengthen that support further, both locally and nationally.

Aneta Saunders, Interim Chief Executive, said:

“We are proud to be here for our community and to continue providing the care that patients and families rely on every day. While we are not currently facing the same level of challenge as some hospices, we are not immune to the financial pressures affecting the sector.

That’s why we are supporting the call for fair and sustainable funding, so we can continue to be there for the people of Greenwich and Bexley, both now and for years to come.”
