Van Driver

About the role 

Our drivers play a vital role in ensuring the effective distribution and movement of stock across all shops and storage facilities, keeping shops fully stocked and well presented. This includes the collection, delivery, and transportation of clothing, Bric a Brac and Furniture. Supporting other departments as required and maximise all opportunities to generate income and support the Hospice's charitable objectives. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Oversee the storage, distribution, and movement of stock from storage facilities across all Hospice and retail sites, ensuring shops remain well stocked, operational needs are met, and opportunities to maximise sales and income are supported. 
2. To organize the movement of furniture between shops.  
3. To be responsible for the good upkeep of company vehicle/s.  
4. To assist when needed with organizing and sorting of donations, goods and merchandise across the shops network and warehouse 
5. Support the Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor in coordinating and planning daily travel routes across the two boroughs, managing deliveries and collections to ensure goods are transported efficiently, safely, and within agreed service timescales. 
6. To promote the Hospice and its services and raise awareness.  
7. To follow safe work practices under national and Hospice agreed health and safety guidelines.  
8. To use all movable equipment or machinery in accordance with health and safety guidelines and risk assessments.  
9. Responsible for the safe handling of goods collected and delivered to and from our shops adhering to all Hospice Health and Safety policy guidelines, reporting any incidents, accidents or noncompliance to the line manager.  
10. To achieve and exceed tight deadlines.  
11. To be responsible for the clearance of rubbish and recycling from various Hospice venues to Council refuse disposal areas on a regular basis.  
12. Responsible for handling all fragile donations with extra care when transporting them.  
13. Responsible for transporting confidential items securely between the Hospice and shops, warehouse or other venues.  
14. To work closely as a team with paid staff and volunteers associated with the logistic operations of the Hospice.  
15. To attend all mandatory training courses including an annual moving and handling course. 
16. To promote the Hospice at all times and ensuring a culture of excellent customer care and promote a professional image.   
17. To be responsible for keeping their working environment, van cab included in a clean and tidy state, checking vehicle generally for petrol, oil, water levels as well as tyre pressures and reporting any repairs or defects to line manager  

18. Undertake ad hoc projects as required
