Running for Trevor and the hospice that cared for him

This April 2025, Lee will take on the London Marathon in memory of his mum, Jayne, and his brother, Trevor, who both lost their lives to bowel cancer far too soon.

Trevor was just 35 years old, a devoted father to three young children, with a baby girl on the way, when he was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2019. The news was devastating. Then, just weeks later, a major stroke changed everything. After undergoing brain surgery, he lost his speech and movement down one side of his body.

Doctors did all they could, but by November, Trevor was told the cancer had spread, and there were no more treatment options left. He was moved to Community Hospice, where he spent his final days surrounded by warmth, love, kindness and dignity.

The hospice gave Trevor the most amazing care, something my family and I will be forever grateful for.

Lee

On December 3, Trevor's baby girl arrived. He got to hold her, kiss her head, and see the daughter he had been waiting so long to meet. That moment meant everything.

Just three days later, on 6th December 2019, Trevor died. He was just 35.

Cancer had already taken Lee’s mum, Jayne at just 40 years old. Now, he had lost his brother too.

He is running the London Marathon to honour Trevor, to honour Jayne, and to make sure more families get the care and kindness his family received.

If you can, please donate. Every penny helps this amazing charity keep giving families the care they need, when they need it most.
