Belle and Reggie“We love to run in the memory of Auntie Shan and all the other people and families they help. It’s great fun and we love seeing all the other children.”
We spoke to Hannah, whose best friend Shan, was cared for by the hospice. Hannah’s two children Belle (9) and Reggie (7) will be taking part in this year’s Hospice Mini Marathon in memory of their ‘Auntie Shan’.
Hannah told us “In July 2014 my best friend Shan at the age of 27, mum of four beautiful girls, found out she had acute myeloid leukaemia, in the August I fell pregnant with Belle.
Shan put up a fight but unfortunately it was too aggressive, by January 2015 she was moved to Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice. She passed away on 24th February 2015 age 28.
Greenwich and Bexley Hospice supported her husband, children, family and her friends, they were/are amazing and made Shan comfortable right until the end.
I am so gutted that she never got to meet either of my children, but I keep her memory alive, they know about Shan and in 2022 when Belle’s school sent an email about the mini marathon Belle immediately wanted to take part to raising money in memory of the honorary auntie, and to help support other family’s. Last year Reggie was old enough to take part and together they raised money and run in memory of Shan Evans. They plan on running again this year.”
