As part of our Garden of Memories appeal, on Sunday 20 July, our hospice garden was filled with quiet moments of reflection, as families, friends and members of our community came together for our Garden of Memories event.
It was a chance to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have died. A space to pause, remember and honour them in the peaceful surroundings of our hospice.
Photos, messages and tributes lined the garden path, creating a beautiful and moving display of memories. Guests took time to walk through the garden, read the stories shared and reflect in their own way.
Over 50 heartfelt dedications were made, and together, we raised more than £4,000 to support hospice care in our community.
Rhea Webb, our Individual Giving Fundraiser who organised the event, shared:
Rhea WebbsIt was so wonderful to see so many loved ones’ pictures proudly displayed in our hospice gardens this weekend. Reading the heartfelt tributes and cherished memories offered a moving snapshot of those no longer with us, but who live on in our shared memories.
We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special. Every tribute, every donation, every photo, and every kind word shared was a powerful reminder of the love and connection we hold within our hospice community.
Our Garden of memories appeal: Help us to be there when it matters most
Kevin O’Boyle was just 57 when he died at the hospice in October 2024. Whilst under the care of the hospice, he and his wife Jo found support, comfort, and the space they needed to create beautiful memories during Kevin’s final months, that Jo will always treasure.
This summer, we are asking for your support so that families like Kevin and Jo’s can receive the care that’s right for them, at a time when they need it the most.
Every pound makes a difference
There's still time to make a donation. Whether it’s a pet therapy session or tea and biscuits for a wellbeing session, every donation we receive can help families - like Kevin and Jo’s - make every moment count. No amount is too small, and in supporting our work, your generosity means that we are there for hundreds of people across Greenwich and Bexley who are living with a terminal illness or facing death. For that we cannot thank you enough.
Here are some of the care and support services that your donation can help us to provide:
- Bereavement support for the loved ones of someone who has died
- Pain and symptom management, helping patients to live well for as long as they can
- Free wellbeing support services like Living well with dementia, and Tea and talk
- Peaceful spaces, like our gardens and therapy rooms, to make hard times a little easier
- Practical help and planning advice to plan for the future
- End of life care at the place where the patient chooses – at home, in hospital or at the hospice
