Hospice receives funding from Greenwich

Our hospice is delighted to have received £389,611 in Section 106 funding from the Royal Borough of Greenwich to support improvements to our facilities, helping us create an even more comfortable and supportive environment for people receiving hospice care and their families.

This generous investment will contribute to the redevelopment of our inpatient unit, including refurbished private rooms with ensuite facilities. These improvements will help ensure that patients and the people closest to them can spend precious time together in a calm and compassionate setting.

Section 106 funding is made up of contributions from local developers, which are reinvested by the council into important community projects and services.

Councillor Mariam Lolavar, Cabinet Member for Health, Adult Social Care and Borough of Sanctuary said:

“We know how important it is that residents receive compassionate, high-quality care at the most difficult times in their lives. By investing this funding into the Community Hospice, we’re helping to create a more dignified and supportive environment for patients and their loved ones.

“By reinvesting contributions from developers back into vital community services, we’re strengthening the link between growth and wellbeing across the borough and ensuring that everyone is supported to live well, right through to the end of life.”

Aneta Saunders, Deputy Chief Executive at our hospice, said:

“We are very thankful to the Royal Borough of Greenwich for this support. As a charity, partnerships like this make a real difference. This funding will help us continue improving our hospice so that people receiving care, and those close to them, can spend meaningful time together in a comfortable and welcoming environment.”

Councillor Mariam Lolavar, Cabinet Member for Health, Adult Social Care and Borough of Sanctuary and Lisa Wilson, Integrated Commissioning Director for Adult Services at the council recently visited our hospice to meet some of the wonderful team delivering this work.

For more than 30 years, our hospice has supported people living with terminal illness across Greenwich and Bexley, as well as their families and carers, providing free care and support when it matters most.
