Your donation could help to keep our nurses on the road this Christmas
It’s coming up to Christmas which means it’s winter and it’s cold; a time many of us want to be at home, wrapped up with blankets, with the telly on and maybe a mince pie or two. For some of the people we care for, it’ll be their last Christmas. And so, even more than most, they want to be home doing what they love. Which may be watching all the festive films and having a mulled wine, opening presents with children and grandchildren, or simply taking it easy with a good book and a pet by their side. Whatever their ideal day is, we want to make it happen.
Our nurses travel all across Greenwich and Bexley, knocking on doors every day of the year. In fact, our team collectively travelled 86,880 miles across the boroughs last year to make sure they could support people in the place they call home. But transport is expensive and came at a cost of £52,996. And that’s why we need your help. With costs going up year on year, as well as more people than ever needing our help, we rely on the generosity of our community to keep going. That’s why we’re asking you to donate what you can to help pay for our nursing team’s transportation costs, so that we can continue to care for people in the comfort of their own homes.
How could your donation help?
£ 25.48 could help keep a nurse on the road for a week this Christmas
£ 45.50 could help our nurses travel to 50 patients in the community
£ 305.75 could help keep a nurse on the road for the 12 days of Christmas
The hospice team are there to help patients, families, loved ones and carers, get through the toughest of times, 365 days a year. Like Liz and her husband Michael who died earlier this year under our care, and who told us about the importance of care at home:
By helping us pay to keep our nurses on the road, you’re helping more families like Liz and Michael get the care they need at home as well as make final, lasting memories and decisions. And for that, there is no price. Kate Heaps, Hospice Chief Executive said:
